Dr. Stuart Garton welcomes you to The Dental House

Welcome to our Practice and make yourself at home. When we opened in April 2015, we set out to create an incredibly modern and innovative Practice, but also a warm and friendly environment for welcoming all of our Patients. Everybody here is really focused upon the needs of our patients.

What is Periodontal Treatment?

Bleeding gums aren’t healthy and gum disease could result in you losing your teeth. However, you can certainly help to prevent gum disease with hygiene treatment at The Dental House. This will help you to maintain strong, healthy teeth and a smile you can be proud of.

Inflammation around the tooth is caused by bacteria sticking to the surface and in the pockets surrounding the tooth.

Removing plaque regularly by following a good oral hygiene routine is the easiest way to prevent periodontal disease at home. However, if gum disease is already advanced then your dentist or hygienist can help by intensively cleaning around the teeth and below the gum line.

Your dentist will complete this by carefully removing the plaque and tartar off your teeth and root surfaces. Sometimes, this may take more than one visit, and local anaesthetic may be offered to prevent discomfort. The gums are then left to heal themselves. Progress will be reassessed at future examination appointments.

Aquacare / Air Polishing

Does you suffer with staining around your teeth? Is this affecting your confidence when you smile? Some foods and drink as well as social habits such as smoking can result in external staining of your teeth. This can often be stubborn and difficult to remove with brushing alone.

The good news is that we can help!

Aquacare stain removal treatment is a safe and effective way to blast away staining on your teeth and restore your smile and confidence.

What is it?

Aquacare is the future of stain removal. A high pressure jet of air, water and sodium bicarbonate is directed at your teeth. Stains are simply blasted away. No more traditional “scrape and polish”!

FAQs

Yes, if you follow a good oral hygiene routine it’s unlikely that plaque will have a chance to build up. It’s important to remember all areas of your mouth, especially in between your teeth.

The symptoms can include bleeding gums, bad breath, an unpleasant taste in your mouth, loss of teeth and gum abscesses. But the good news is, with our treatment you can put a stop to these symptoms and your oral health will be restored and you’ll be left with a smile you can be confident of.

Periodontitis occurs when gingivitis is left untreated. The build-up of plaque and tartar can result in the gums and your bones becoming damaged. Gums may bleed, become red and sore and in worse cases will separate from the teeth where the plaque can grow. If the condition is left untreated it’ll then cause damage to the bone which can result in tooth loss.

But the good news is this can all be prevented with a healthy oral hygiene routine and periodontal treatment from your dentist.

This depends entirely on your teeth, some professional cleaning may require a number of visits but this can be assessed by your dentist or therapist.

Scaling and cleaning the teeth doesn’t typically hurt. If you need further surgery to treat the worst cases, a local anaesthetic will be used whilst the treatment occurs.

No, Aquacare air polishing is unique in that it doesn’t come into contact with the teeth. Instead the staining is blasted away from the tooth and you’re left with incredibly clean teeth.
